Detail “Corn” from “Figure Food,” a photo documentary by Christina D. Blackman |
Christina D. Blackman of Edmeston, N.Y., a senior majoring in studio art – photography, will show her senior thesis portfolio, titled “Figure Food,” which opens Saturday, April 28, with an artist’s reception from 1 to 4 p.m. The show runs through May 2.
Blackman said, “My project is a response to the question 'if we are what we eat, then what are we?' In today's world we are bombarded with food choices everywhere we turn and many of these foods are over processed and hold little to no nutritious value. I examined this problem and responded to it through photography by comparing human forms to food forms using line and shape as connectors.”
The Cazenovia College Art Gallery is on the corner of Sullivan and Seminary streets in Cazenovia. Staffed by student monitors, the hours are: Monday through Thursday, 1-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; Friday, 1-4 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 2-6 p.m., during the fall and spring semesters.
